Entries and nominations now being accepted for the 2010 Nexxus Life Science Awards
16 August 2010
Who do you think most deserves an award for their contributions to Scottish life sciences? A captain of industry? An academic? A clinician? A young scientist or researcher already making a big impact early in their career? An innovator? A fledgling company already amassing orders, breaking into new territories or developing new services and technology?
The Annual Nexxus Life Science Awards aim to celebrate local talent in the West and East of Scotland. Two separate competitions encourage entries and nominations for the categories of Lifetime Achievement, Innovation, Most Promising Young Life Science Company of the Year, Young Life Scientist of the Year and (in the East only, sponsored by the Edinburgh Science Triangle) Collaboration.
Graeme Boyle, Director of Nexxus said, "It's amazing to think that we've been running the Nexxus Awards for six years now. When the Awards were first launched in 2005, we really weren't sure what level of interest there would be from the local community, but year on year we've been delighted by the calibre and range of entries.
"Across central Scotland there are many individuals and organisations who have played - and are playing - a significant part in keeping the life science industry in Scotland firmly on the global stage. Each and every one of them merits our recognition and our thanks for the hard work, innovative thinking and business acumen they bring to the industry, and for the inspiration they all give us. Scots have a natural tendency towards self-effacement but we hope that others, on their behalf, will once again put forward as many peers, colleagues, business associates, new innovations and life science "heroes and heroines" (whether known personally to the nominators or just by reputation) as possible. It's an enormous compliment to know someone thinks you're worthy of an Award."
Further details including eligibility for awards, judging criteria and entry forms may be found at www.nexxusscotland.com/awards. Deadline for nominations/entries is Friday 3 September 2010.
