Science and Technology Parks in the West of Scotland

In recognition of demand from the West of Scotland's burgeoning life science sector, Scottish Enterprise Glasgow has developed a property portfolio with the specific needs of such industries in mind.   Combined, the three parks offer a level of service to meet the aspirations of all sizes, and at every stage of their development.

West of Scotland Science Park

At the West of Scotland Science Park there is scope for units to be custom designed or adapted to meet particular needs. The Park is particularly suitable for smaller ‘incubator' companies with support at hand to assist them in the early stages of research and development until they establish themselves in larger premises either on the park or elsewhere within the City. It offers on-site management and common services as well as visiting business support for growing companies within a parkland setting.

The latest tenant on the Todd Campus there, is the Glasgow Memory Clinic which is relocating from the city centre into one of five new units currently being completed. The new development of 14,500 sq ft is the ‘Technology Terrace' which is designed to be particularly suited to life science companies with a mixture of mezzanine office and potential ground floor laboratory space. Technology Terrace aims to offer functional accommodation at affordable rentals.

Business support on the Park is provided by SE Glasgow subsidiary, Targeting Innovation, whose tailored services include funding advice, asset management and protection, event management and business advice all with a core life science expertise.

Tenants have access to many University facilities including library, computing services and recreational facilities. The Park is also equipped with state of the art video conferencing. It is located within a development area and companies can take advantage of a wide range of financial incentives.

Around 14 different bioscience companies now operate in the Park making this sector the leading industry cluster.

Nova Technology Park

Nova Technology Park, is Glasgow's newest Technology Park. It is located just 5 miles to the North East of the City centre and benefits from direct "diamond" motorway access to the M80 (Junction 2).  Furthermore the recently announced upgrading of the A80 to full motorway status will, upon completion, give Nova a continuous motorway connection with Stirling and Perth.  Nova can also benefit companies seeking to access the central belt (Edinburgh) in terms of staff and customer issues given its location (close proximity to J12, M8).

Nova is targeted at science and technology companies seeking a high quality edge of city centre location.  Nova will ultimately provide 66, 000sq m of accommodation over a 27 hectare site which will be landscaped to a high quality. Nova will provide a range of property options from small start up suites to large scale hi-technology production facilities.  Centralised facilities will be provided to give a focus and provide added value activities.  Nova will incorporate environmental sustainability as a core value in its development.

Nova is subject to an ongoing masterplan exercise to determine the optimum solution to serve the needs of science and technology companies.

City Science

For companies attracted by the benefits of a city centre location, City Science completes Glasgow's current offering for tailored property solutions.

The University of Strathclyde expansion on the site gives strong opportunities for closer commercialisation links to develop, a key point for companies looking to benefit from the advantages of being in close proximity to ongoing research.
