Respiratory diseases are common in the West of Scotland. Consequently, the local biomedical community has developed a long-standing record of excellence in respiratory research and associated epidemiology.
The West of Scotland has excellent basic and clinical sciences for the study of the mechanisms underlying respiratory diseases and their treatment, complemented by physiological and pharmacological research on disease models and mechanisms of action of drugs in respiratory disease.
