Nexxus Annual Life Science Awards (West)

Sixth Year of Annual Awards!

Presentation of our sixth Annual Nexxus Life Science Awards for Lifetime Achievement, Innovation, Young Life Scientist of the Year and Most Promising Young Life Science Company will take place once again in the fabulous surroundings of the Auditorium, Oran Mor, Byres Road, Glasgow.

As ever, the evening offers you the opportunity to rub shoulders with the great, the good and the downright fantastic individuals who make up Scotland's vibrant life science community.   Join us to celebrate local talent and expertise, catch up with old acquaintances and make new and valuable contacts.   The Nexxus team will be on hand to help facilitate introductions if you're shy!

There will also be the opportunity to view and judge the entries for the Nexxus 2011 Life-Sci Visions Calendar submitted by West of Scotland based life science related organisations.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

We are delighted to confirm that this year's Keynote Speech will be given by Harriet Fear, CEO at One Nucleus Ltd - the new name for ERBI following ERBI's merger with the London Biotechnology Network Harriet Fear(LBN).  One Nucleus is a not-for-profit, membership organisation for international life science and healthcare companies, owned by its members.  More than 500 members include pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device and diagnostic companies and associated technical and commercial service providers. It is based in Cambridge and London UK, at the heart of Europe's largest life science and healthcare cluster and its mission is to maximise the global competitiveness of its members.

Harriet has been the CEO of One Nucleus (formerly ERBI) since February 2009. She previously worked as a Diplomat with the British Foreign Office for 21 years serving in over 17 countries around the globe. Half her career was spent in the commercial field, latterly heading UK Trade & Investments national life sciences trade team for over 5 years. During her varied Foreign Office career she was Deputy Ambassador three times, Private Secretary to the Minister for Europe, led an evacuation of Brits out of the Congo and worked in Khymer Rouge territory with Scotland Yard on a hostage crisis. She now enjoys a calmer life in the UK!

Harriet was attracted to the role at One Nucleus because she wanted to spend time helping companies maximise their competitiveness and to lead a team which already had an excellent reputation. Since her arrival, the company has redefined its membership (now life science and healthcare, not only biotech), formed strong and strategic relations with like minded US counterparts for the benefit of members and merged ERBI with London Biotechnology Network to enhance the offer to members and create a stronger critical mass on the international stage.
