Nexxus Question Time and Summer BBQ

Breaking the start-up barrier. Can Scotland sustain the transition from start-up to the world stage?

The Nexxus Summer BBQ this year will feature a 'Question Time' session.  Themes for discussion include:

  • Entrepreneurial Spirit: there are enough scientific ideas in Scotland but are there enough entrepreneurs starting up and developing companies?
  • Investment Barrier: is it really difficult to get the larger investment rounds in Scotland? If there are barriers, then what are they and how are they overcome?
  • The Talent Pool: is there a lack of senior management in Scotland to facilitate the company growth and provide investor confidence? What can Scotland do to attract these people? Is homegrown sufficient or world stage experience essential?
  • Risk and Reward Profile: which life science fields offer the most likely success? Is it less risky for medical device development compared to drug development?
  • Jump starting Life Sciences Scotland PLC

Panellists

The evening includes tea/coffee during the registration period, the usual substantial BBQ food (including vegetarian option) plus a complimentary first drink with the food.   Thereafter there will be bar faciliites available for those of you who would like to wind down of a summer's evening with a beer or glass of wine or two (non alcoholic beverages will also be available).
