The Mentholatum Company to Sponsor Nexxus Lifetime Achievement Award (News Story 1 October 2008)
Things are hotting up for the 4th Annual Nexxus Life Science Awards. The shortlisting of candidates is now complete and Nexxus, the West of Scotland BioScience Network, is pleased to announce that the East Kilbride based Mentholatum Company, perhaps best known for its "Deep Heat" range of products, is stepping up to sponsor the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award.
Nexxus Annual Life Science Awards 2008
Nexxus are delighted to advise that the presentation of our fourth Annual Nexxus Life Science Awards for Lifetime Achievement (sponsored this year by The Mentholatum Company), Innovation (sponsored this year by ITI Life Sciences), Young Life Scientist of the Year and Most Promising Young Life Science Company will take place in the fabulous surroundings of the Auditorium, Oran Mor, Byres Road, Glasgow.
The Annual Nexxus Awards Ceremony brings together individuals and companies from across the whole spectrum of the life sciences sector to celebrate and recognise West of Scotland's life science 'stars' - both those whose stars have been shining brightly for a long time and those whose stars are just beginning to twinkle!
As usual, guests will be greeted with a welcome drink and the format of the evening will be such that they can catch up with colleagues in the sector at this point and also over the networking buffet at the end of the evening after the Awards have been presented.
As most of you will know, we are in the throes of expanding our services to the life science community in the East of Scotland too, in a collaboration with the Edinburgh Science Triangle and we are therefore delighted that Laura Gordon, Director of the Glasgow:Edinburgh Collaboration will be giving our keynote speech this year.
In addition, since the Nexxus Life-Sci Visions Calendar images displayed last year proved very popular, we will once again display images for a 2009 Calendar which is intended to showcase West of Scotland life science expertise and capabilities. However, this year we are looking for audience participation and will ask attendees to select their favourite images with the most popular ones chosen reproduced in the Calendar. In advising us of their favourite images, attendees will be entered into a prize draw for a bottle of whisky - winner will be notified after the event. (As the Calendar will be sent out with the Winter issue of Nexxus News in December, if you are not already on our mailing list, join it now to avoid disappointment!)
