Nexxus Annual Life Science Awards (East)
Third Year of Annual Awards!
Presentation of our third Annual Nexxus Life Science Awards for Lifetime Achievement, Innovation, Young Life Scientist of the Year, Most Promising Young Life Science Company and (sponsored by the Edinburgh Science Triangle) Collaboration, will take place once again in the fantastic setting of the Playfair Library, South Bridge, Edinburgh.
Join us to celebrate local talent and expertise, catch up with old acquaintances and make new and valuable contacts.
There will also be the opportunity to view and judge the entries for the Nexxus 2012 Life-Sci Visions Calendar submitted by Scottish life science related organisations.
Guest Speaker
This year we are delighted to confirm that Professor Sir Ian Wilmut, a former winner of the Nexxus Lifetime Achievement Award, and Chairman of the Scottish Centre for Regenerative Medicine (SCRM) will join us to give a brief talk about the Scottish Centre for Regenerative Medicine and its importance to Edinburgh and Scotland.
In 1996 he and his team at the Roslin Institute in Edinburgh successfully used mammary cells to create the first ever clone of an adult animal. Dolly, the sheep who gained global fame, was born in 1996. Dolly's birth confirmed him as a leading figure in embryology research, and he continues to explore topics at the forefront of his field as Director of the Medical Research Council Centre for Regenerative Medicine (MRC-CRM) at the University of Edinburgh.
Venue
This year the event will once again be held in Edinburgh University's prestigious Playfair Library at the Old College. Location map for the Playfair Library.
