Saltire Fellowship 2012

The Saltire Fellowship programme is designed to develop the leaders that companies need most; those who can create opportunities, envision and navigate change, surmount complexity, and motivate teams in a common purpose to grow organisations and create economic and social value.

In addition, Saltire Fellows are exposed to world class networks both in Scotland and globally, for example through GlobalScots.  Their peer network will be unrivalled as they will share their journey with a cohort of Scotland's "best and brightest" and have access to Saltire Foundation Alumni.  They will also receive a thorough grounding in the specific opportunities and challenges at a company, sectorial and national level within the global and Scottish context.

There are two avenues to get on the programme:

1. Open Enrolment - where the individual leaves their current firm, a good way to attract talent back to Scotland.

2. Company Candidates - where a company identifies a member of their team to go on the programme.

What marks the Fellowship out is that it is:

1.       Global but rooted in Scotland - the Saltire Fellows are exposed to networks around the world and spend time on the ground in US and China but still get a particularly Scottish perspective.

2.       World class - Babson College in Boston is the #1 Business School in the world for entrepreneurship, the businesses we work are with either world class or strive to be so.

3.       Immersion in Boston Life Sciences - 15 weeks of programme is in Boston with opportunity to build networks and work for a Boston based life science business.

4.       Very hands on - combined with world class teaching from Babson faculty who have run businesses themselves, the Fellows undertake live projects and analyse many cases during the Fellowship - getting to apply the theory in practice.

5.       Low cost - The cost is substantially lower than any comparable high quality executive education programme.  Plus there may be funding support for small companies and bursaries for individuals.
